Consulta and Tesi are two database programmes developed by Dr. Massimo Mangialavori.
The first is a homeopathic patient file; the second a programme for storing and collating all the different kinds of information that homeopaths draw on in studying remedies – from the substance from which they are prepared, to the main 'themes' that characterise each remedy.
These two programmes can be run separately, or better still, as one integrated system.
Consulta is a homeopathic patient file used by more than 600 homeopaths worldwide. It can run on Mac OS9, OSX and Windows.The first version of the programme was released in 1991, while the most recent, Consulta 9.1.2 Plus, appeared in Winter 2006.
Consulta is a very easy to use, yet at the same time a highly professional and powerful programme.
Consulta allows you to record your homeopathic case notes, leaving you the greatest possible freedom to work as you prefer, without obliging you in any way to change your personal style of case-taking. All this is enhanced by the great advantages offered by a database system, including: the possibility of easily archiving laboratory data, images, repertorisations, data from the homeopathic literature, analysis of the information collected about patients, very fast and easy searches of your material, evaluation of the results of prescriptions, families of remedies, pathology, symptoms of the patient, repertory symptoms, keywords from the literature, rubrics etc.
Tesi is a database for the study of homeopathic remedies, a programme which allows you to collect and systematise all kinds of data about remedies: images, descriptions of the original substance, traditional usage, pharmacological usage, homeopathic data, themes of the remedy, cured cases from the literature, your own notes, information obtained from seminars, bibliographies etc.
Tesi is a programme that at last allows you to collect in one place all the scattered bits of information, and the notes that every homeopath gathers during the course of their career, from their first experiences as a student onwards.
Consulta and Tesi are modestly priced, but highly functional, extremely stable, simple and instantly effective.
These programmes are part of a project created by homeopaths for the homeopathic community, with the aim of establishing research tools that are independent of commercial interests and which are frequently updated. Indeed, Consulta and Tesi are already used by many homeopaths who are part of this project and who are involved in maintaining it, on the contrary of what happens to other programmes of this type, which, subject to market forces, have not survived very long. Many of these programmes were actually never updated: a dangerous risk for anyone who wants to archive their own clinical and study material over time.
Consulta and Tesi belong to an not-for-profit organisation: the money brought in from sales is reinvested in the ongoing development of the project and of the programmes.

The basic version, Consulta 7 Plus (Consulta and Tesi) is available as shareware. Some homeopaths who are expert in information technology asked us for permission to modify the programmes to suit their own needs, basically to insert an operational component which we had chosen not to include, for reasons of cost and because it is different for each language in which the programme is used. We have therefore also made available for download the source file which allows anyone to modify the programme in any way they like, subject only to their owning Filemaker and being able to make the necessary programming modifications.
We ask anyone who wishes to download the shareware programme to help us keep the project going by contributing the nominal sum of €20.
